Buying Land – GET A SURVEY!
A quick look at the basic survey for land and property buying. This is the most important document you need when buying land. It shows you the exact layout of your property. KNOW what you are buying!
Seriously, do yourself a favor and save the trouble in the future and have the surveyor be one of YOUR choice. If you have the option to hire your own do it. Using the seller's surveyor may mean more headaches and costs out of your pocket than it's worth. Our surveyor was hired by the seller, and he did a less than satisfactory job, but we weren't able to be there when the survey was done. This ultimately put me in a position of now having to follow up with another surveyor or trying to attempt to meet corner to corner as some of the property sides are not properly flagged as was requested.
