Do I Recommend an Outdoor Wood Boiler?
So as a new 'homesteader', the boiler gave us the biggest problems. However, this was all due to the previous owners self-install, backwards water pumps, etc. The previous owner said that it went through 15 - 20 cords of wood a season here in Michigan. This made me hesitant! Do I recommend an outdoor wood boiler?
Yes, IF you have the time to feed and prepare for one. Luckily, we only went through 5 - 7 cords of wood for the entire winter season here in Michigan. This is 1/4 of what we were told it would require by the previous owner, but now we understand why they went through so much wood.... they didn't install it properly!
