Ice Melt – Did it work?

We bought a store brand "Ice Melt" product to test on our thick ice. While it makes some impressive sounds, it didn't seem to do the job. But... maybe I did something wrong. If that's the case, please let me know! At $12 for the jug, that's a lot of money for an inferior product.

A 50lb bag of rock salt for the same price worked MUCH more effectively!
