Ice Melt vs Rock Salt

So, I decided to try out some "Ice Melt" that we were told was the best stuff out there. I have to say straight out, I was not impressed. Don't get me wrong, I had high hopes when I heard the cracking of the ice below the additive, but it was just noise. It did not penetrate the ice as I had hoped.

However, since doing this video, I did find a product that was a little slower reacting, but definitely busted through the thick ice up to almost 2".

The cost of the IceMelt was $12 and seemed unsuited for my purposes. A 50lb bag of standard rock salt was the same price and worked a heck of a lot better, although it was a slower response.
