KITCHEN: Priming Drywall

Priming the bare drywall is essential! Do not go straight for paint on bare drywall in moist/humid areas. or anywhere for that matter. It really should be primed first!

Priming the drywall in the basic sense, will "seal" the drywall. There is a thin paper that holds in the drywall material. If this paper peels or gets damp it can cause problems. This is especially true for humid areas such as a kitchen. Bathroom locations often us a cement board instead.
